…the author
My name is Mike Cherry and I have worked in IT in the pharmaceutical and security industries for 35 years. Prior to that I used to be a chemist - but I’m all right now.
I consider myself to be retired but I’d be prepared to do paid work for a worthy or interesting organisation.
I’m a very happy husband and proud Dad and Grandad.
…this blog
This blog is intended to record and share my thoughts on various subjects. Because of my background much of it will be related (at least in my mind) loosely to technology in its many wonderful forms. I’d be willing to bet (except that I rarely gamble) that my attitude to various things will change over time and people who comment on my posts may be able to point out the error of my ways and cause me to change my thinking. I hope to resist the temptation to go back and change any opinions expressed in earlier writings, but I may add to them.
Why the domain name? This is what my kids refer to as a Dad-joke - which is to say: not funny. I guess it’s a plea to the world to recognise Silly Cons however they are presented. Hold on to the thought that the con-man pre-dates any form of IT - including Cuneiform.
The technology behind these blog pages is Jekyll with the static comment plugin created by Matt Palmer running on Apache on Ubuntu server.
